Services

The CVSOAFL provides vital support and resources to the County Veterans Service Officers who directly assist veterans and their families at the local level. Our services include:
Professional Training & Certification:
We host annual and quarterly in-person training sessions to ensure all CVSOs are well-versed in federal, state, and local veterans’ benefits. Training is aligned with Florida Statutes and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs accreditation requirements.

  • Legislative Advocacy:

We represent the interests of county VSOs and veterans before the Florida Legislature and key decision-makers, advocating for improved services, funding, and policies that support veterans statewide.

  • Peer Support & Mentorship:

Our network of experienced service officers offers guidance and mentorship to new and developing professionals, ensuring continuity of knowledge and high standards of service delivery.

  • Information Sharing:

Through regular updates, resource sharing, and collaborative meetings, we keep members informed on the latest changes in laws, VA processes, and veteran-related issues.

  • Statewide Coordination:

CVSOAFL fosters collaboration among all   counties, promoting consistency and best practices in how veterans are served throughout Florida.

Together, we work to ensure that every veteran, in every Florida county, has access to knowledgeable, compassionate support when navigating the benefits and services they've earned.

Veterans and Spouses

FLCVSOA is here to help you file the necessary paperwork for benefits you deserve. The VA can pay compensation to a Veteran if he/she is at least 10% disabled as a result of military service. Wartime Veterans may receive a pension if they have limited income and are unable to work or if they are over the age of 65. Also, Veterans with a 10% disability rating or greater are eligible for an additional homestead exemption on the property taxes.

Additional benefits may be extended to dependents of Veterans such as:
Survivors of service members who died on active duty.
Survivors of Veterans who died from service-connected disabilities.
In some cases, survivors of Veterans who were being paid 100% disability at the time of their death, can obtain Dependency & Indemnity Compensation (DIC) benefits.
Qualifying surviving spouses and children of deceased wartime Veterans may obtain a death pension.
